What level of photographic
expertise is required for the tour?
No particular level is required. Our program is designed
to accommodate beginners to advanced. However, a working
knowledge of your camera is expected.
What
kind of camera should I bring?
Either a film or a digital camera will be appropriate. If you
have a camera with interchangeable lenses, do not bring more
than 2 lenses. A built-in or other kind of flash can be
useful, but in most cases, is not needed. Flash is prohibited
in most churches, museums and public buildings in Italy. It is
strongly recommended to come with a working knowledge of your
particular camera in order to get the most out of the tour. If
you have questions about your equipment, please email Tony
Boccaccio directly atinfo@imaging-in-italy.com.
Should I bring
a tripod?
Large tripods are generally
forbidden in public
places. A small table-top tripod will work quite well in
most situations. If you have a small digital camera, you can purchase a
small table-top tripod from the many street vendors along the
way.
Do you supply
film?
No. We do not supply film. Because of the problem
of X-rays damaging film when traveling abroad, we recommend
that you purchase film after you arrive in Rome. Film can be
found at reasonable prices. However, it is difficult to
find slide film; most vendors sell color negative film to make
prints. If you decide to bring your own film, it is
advisable NOT to put it in your luggage, but to hand carry it
onto the plane and through airports.
What’s the weather like in Rome?
Rome averages over 220 days of sunlight a year. While the
local micro climate is changeable, summers are usually sunny
and bright with little rain. Summer temperatures range from an
average high of 90F to lows in the evenings of 65F. (32C -
18C) The temperatures during September &
October range from highs of 75F to lows of 55F in the
evenings. (24C-15C)
What if there
is bad weather? Is the program cancelled?
During the summer and autumn months, weather in Rome is quite
stable, with very few days of “bad weather”. In most cases, the tours will not be
cancelled due to weather conditions. For the occasional rainy day, we
advise you bring proper rain gear. You can purchase an
umbrella in the streets of Rome if it rains for about 5
Euros. Umbrella sellers are EVERYWHERE!

What is the
cancellation policy?
There are penalties for cancellation and travelers are advised
to obtain appropriate insurance. We can help you do that. The
cancellation policy is as follows: For the daily tours, after
you have registered, the cancellation fee is 20€ per person.
Within 60 days of your tour start date - $40€. Within 30
days - $60€, and within 15 days, the total amount. For the
package tours, after you have registered, there is a
non-refundable deposit of 25% per person. The balance is due
60 days prior to your arrival date.
Do I need travel insurance?
Supplemental travel insurance is inexpensive, is always wise,
and we highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance, as
your full deposit is not refundable. You will need to check
your own insurance policies. Insurance coverage is not a part
of the daily or workshop packages.
Do I need a
visa? Passport?
US citizens are required to have a valid US passport to enter
Italy. No visa is required. You will need a passport valid for
at least 6 months beyond your anticipated stay in Italy. If
you are coming from a country other than the European Union or
the USA, you should check with the Italian Consulate in your
country to determine if you need a visa. For more detailed
information, visit the State Department's Web site at www.state.gov or contact the US consulat in your
country.
Do I need
vaccinations?
For details about health issues, vaccinations etc. please
visit the Centers for Disease Control's Web site atwww.cdc.gov/travel or
contact the tour operator.
How will I get from the airport
to the hotel?
Limousine service is available and costs about the same as a
taxi. Our driver will meet you at the custom's exit and
take you directly to your hotel. Contact us and we
will provide you with the necessary information &
pricing. We can also arrange for transfers at a
reasonable price.
Is Rome safe?
Rome is one of the safest cities in the world. While it is
always wise to be aware of your surroundings in unfamiliar
places, you needn’t be overly concerned to walk in and
around Rome day or night. In Europe, tourists always keep
their eyes open for pickpockets; it may be advisable to use a
money belt.
