We'll travel by train just 30 minutes south
of Rome to the charming area called Castelli Romani. On the way you will pass
by the great aqueducts that brought water to Rome.
Arriving in Lanuvio, you
will be driven through the rolling hills of the
Castelli Romani with ample opportunity to take
stunning photos of the wine country. Then, you
will be hosted by Paolo Allegrini at his picturesque
fattoria , or farm, where you will see how
one of Rome's most beloved restauranteurs
prepares a special meal just for you. Enjoy a cool
aperitif served right in the vineyard, beneath 100
year-old oak trees, with the ancient town of Lanuvio
sitting above you on the hillside.
After a tour of Paolo's
farm, with it's sheep, goats, cows, bulls, peacocks,
variety of chickens, macaws, fighting cocks,
and Paolo's chestnut stallion "Bella", Paolo and his wife Viorica will set a
sumptuous table for lunch, prepared just for you and
complete with pasta, wine, cheese, meats, and
vegetables right from his own farm. This is a
rare opportunity to experience authentic local Romano
dining at its best!
After lunch, we'll drive
through the countryside, making photographs of the
extraordinary beauty of this region of Italy.
We'll drive up the side of one of many ancient
volcanoes that formed this part of Italy to the quaint
town of Nemi,
where you will photograph colorful storefronts
adorned with all kinds of local foods, cheeses,
hand-crafts, and local specialties.
This
is a day to remember and a rare opportunity to
"get out of the city" and experience the
beauty and calm pace of the Roman countryside.
Your day in the Castellli Romani will be one of the
great highlights of your trip.
